In year 2012 the Johnsburg School District 12 Board of Education retained Gillespie Design Group to perform a Facility Assessment Study of the four educational buildings in the district.
The Facility Assessment proved to be a valuable tool for the School Board, providing a better understanding of the condition of the existing buildings and serving as a useful guide in making decisions related to planning and budgeting.
Eventually, it was instrumental in the decision to close James C. Bush Elementary School and add that student population to a newly configured 3-8 school building in the district.
